Coolant Analysis Can Prevent Failures
A major mobile equipment OEM estimated that an average of 53 percent of all engine failures are a direct result of problems with the cooling system. Periodic coolant analysis, including glycol content, pH, conductivity, inhibitor analysis, visual inspection and resistance to corrosion may be as valuable as routine oil analysis in preventing failure due to the cooling system.

Why Particle Counting is Important
From the book “Oil Analysis Basics – Second Edition”:

When particle contamination is monitored and reported routinely, not only is proactive maintenance generally achieved but also many of the goals of predictive maintenance. As such, particle counting is an important first line of defense in machinery reliability. Because of its value, it is not uncommon to find organizations testing the cleanliness of their oils as frequently as weekly, especially for high-criticality machines.
